Donna Christensen, the US Virgin Islands’ non-voting representative to the US Congress, “also said that the warming of the ocean had already begun bleaching the coral reef surrounding the Virgin Islands, and consequently hurting both tourism and fishing activity. “My fishermen are catching hell,” she said. Meanwhile, she said, “the beaches are eroding and the water is rising, and we have to be able to plan to adapt to it.”
